New for 2008! Deschutes Angler is offering "evening hatch" trout floats from May 15 through August 1. These floats begin at 5 PM and finish at twilight, which means that you will be fishing right up until it is too dark to see to tie on another fly. In Oregon, the law states that you can fish until one hour after sunset, so we will often be fishing until 9 or 9:45 pm.
As anyone who has been on the Deschutes in the summertime knows, those moments after the sun slips below the ridge of the canyon offers some of the most insane dry fly fishing to be found anywhere! Caddis caddis caddis - and when they aren't out in force, we'll be fishing craneflies, spent mayflies, pale evening duns, and stoneflies of all shapes and sizes. This float is a great option for anglers rolling into town on Friday afternoon; for anyone who wants the float trip experience but prefers not to do a full day float; or for those who want a Deschutes Angler professional to expose them to the wonders of the Deschutes in the waning hours of the day.
The Evening Hatch float has been in demand for years, so we're happy to answer that call. We feel that this float trip is going to be wildly popular!
Give us a call for dates and times...even up to the last minute! We'll always do our very best to accommodate last minute requests.
