Many years ago, Louis Bougle approached Hardy with a request for a reel with good line capacity and which was light enough to balance the increasingly available, lighter rods of the time - this request resulted in the very first Hardy Bougle reel. Now, after 106 years of variations on this design, and 106 years of Hardy's valued customer feedback, it was decided to revert back to the styling and feel of the 1998 introduced MkIV - this resulted in the best Bougle reel so far - the Bougle MkVII.
