Griffin Hook Hackle Gauge
I bought this exact item in the first year that I started tying flies. It is nice to see that it has not changed one bit in at least fifteen years. I attached mine to the base of my vise and I use it to guage the hook size when I find a stray hook on the tying bench. I use it even more often when tying dry flies to measure the hackle size. Nothing looks worse than using hackle that is too large for the size of hook on which you are tying. This gauge allows you to wrap the feather around the small post to measure it. The fibers of the feather will stand out as you wrap the stem around the small post and you will know instantly what size hook to use the hackle on. Very handy!
