The Rogue River is another famous steelhead and salmon fishery with outstanding numbers of fish entering the system all year around. Set in Southern Oregon, the Rogue begins in the cascades near Mt. Thielson and enters the ocean in the town of Gold Beach. With endless miles of fishing an avid angler can chase steelhead all year around. The summer steelhead begin entering the system in June and continue through December. If you want to fish a floating line with wet flies and skaters look to fish in July and August. In September and October the water is artificially cooled down and lowered by the upper most dam. The low water temps turns the marjority of the Rogue into a sink-tip fishery but the fish are grabby despite the Rogue's reputation as an indicator fishery. The winter steelhead begin entering the system in December and good numbers continue until April. These fish are chrome bright and fight with vigorous intensity and love a swung fly.
Below is a selection of flies to suit whatever month you plan on fishing the Rogue. Three members of our guide staff used to work on the Rogue and are very familiar with river. Feel free to call with any questions regarding the fishery, when to fish it and what you will need to ensure a fantastic trip. (541)395-0995
