Soft Hackle
Soft hackles are a traditional method of fishing that is now frequently overlooked. To swing a soft hackle fly means holding the line taut and swinging from out-river towards the bank in a smooth, consistent line. This imitates an emerging insect as it makes its way towards shore to hatch. Fishing one of these off of a dry fly during a mayfly or caddis hatch allows the angler to fish a longer line and will increase one's chances of connecting with fish.
