Mayflies are undoubtedly a trout's favorite food. No matter how many caddis flies or stoneflies are buzzing around, if a mayfly hatch comes off the fish immediately transition over. The nymphs typically fish best an hour or two before the hatch and an hour or two after the hatch. In addition, the nymphs work extremely well as a trailing fly behind your dry in the middle of the hatch.
