Some of the best dry fly oppurtunities on the Deschutes River happen during Mayfly hatches. Fish will always take a mayfly over a stonefly or caddis fly. No matter how many caddis flies or stoneflies are flying around, if mayflies start popping switch over. During the evening caddis hatches on the Deschutes, try fishing a PED cripple or adult, and you will probably find that your average size fish is dramatically larger.

Spotlight Emerger, Overley's
When you see this emerger pattern, you'll understand. It's such a well conceived representation that it makes visual sense of what is happening when an insect is emerging from its schuck. Available in callibaetis, light cahill, march brown and PMD.
